Our Dream Trip to Kamikochi
My Matsumoto to Kamikochi Day Trip was one of the most beautiful nature experiences I’ve had in Japan. The journey from Matsumoto to the peaceful Kamikochi valley took me through stunning mountain scenery, crystal-clear rivers, and fresh alpine air. On 8th October 2025, our dream finally came true — a perfect autumn morning adventure from Matsumoto to Kamikochi.

We started early from Matsumoto Station, catching the train to Shin-shimashima Station around 8:45 AM. The 30-minute ride was smooth, surrounded by beautiful countryside views. We arrived at 9:15 AM, just in time for the 9:30 AM bus to Kamikochi. The one-hour bus ride was filled with winding mountain roads and breathtaking valley views.

Exploring the Kamikochi Trails
By 10:30 AM, we reached Kamikochi Bus Terminal, the gateway to this mountain paradise. The air was crisp, the sunlight soft, and the sound of the river instantly calming. We began our two-hour walk along the Azusa River, passing through peaceful forests and finally reaching the iconic Kappa Bridge. Every turn offered a new photo opportunity — the reflection of the mountains on the river, the golden trees, and the bright blue sky.
