24th Oct’22 – Visited Jhanda Sahib Gurudwara
In October 2022, I had the privilege of returning to my hometown, Dehradun, to celebrate Diwali—the Festival of Lights—with my family. This visit allowed me to reconnect with my roots and immerse myself in the rich cultural traditions that make Diwali in Dehradun truly special.
A Traditional Start to the Festivities
The evening commenced with the family donning new clothes, a customary practice symbolizing fresh beginnings. We visited the local temple to offer our prayers, seeking blessings for prosperity and happiness. The temple’s serene ambiance provided a moment of reflection amidst the festive excitement.
An Evening of Lights and Firecrackers
Back home, we adorned our house with diyas (oil lamps) and colorful rangoli designs, transforming our abode into a vibrant spectacle. The highlight was the bursting of firecrackers, filling the night sky with brilliance and joy. Sharing this experience with loved ones made it all the more memorable.
A Visit to Jhanda Sahib Gurudwara
On the 24th of October, we visited the Jhanda Sahib Gurudwara, a place of historical and spiritual significance. The peaceful environment offered a sense of tranquility, providing a beautiful contrast to the previous day’s festivities. This visit was a poignant reminder of the diverse religious tapestry that characterizes Dehradun.
