Celebrating Choti Diwali in Dehradun: A Family Affair

Diwali Festival
Understanding Choti Diwali
Choti Diwali falls a day before the main Diwali festival and is celebrated with fervor across India. The day is rooted in Hindu mythology, commemorating the victory of Lord Krishna over the demon Narakasura, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil.
Our Family Celebrations
On October 23, 2022, our family gathered to observe the rituals associated with Choti Diwali. The day began with a customary oil bath, believed to purify the body and soul. We then adorned our home with earthen lamps and vibrant rangoli designs, setting the stage for the evening’s festivities.
Culinary Delights
No celebration is complete without special treats. Our kitchen was abuzz with the preparation of traditional sweets and snacks, filling the air with enticing aromas. Sharing these delicacies with neighbors and friends fostered a sense of community and warmth.
