I always visit India once a year. So my this Dehradun Trip was on 13th Nov 2007 To Celebrate Diwali Festival with family.
Diwali is the Hindu festival of lights with its variations also celebrated in other Indian religions. It symbolises the spiritual “victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance”
My Dehradun trip was on 15th Dec 2006. Also traveled to Mussoorie, Dhanaulti, Delhi, and Agra in the winter season.
Six months have passed by working in Bangkok and the major difficulties I was facing were of Thai language and food, still, I do not get used to food over there. All I use to do that after my breakfast I skip my lunch but for a long time I could not handle this so I thought of trying chicken and went to KFC restaurant for that, for the first time I tried chicken over there.
Then slowly I get used to it along with MC Donald and pizza as well. Frequently I started having these food items in my dinner as well, I still have less food during my lunchtime as still I don’t understand the Thai language nor even, I have any idea about their food items. The third issue with me was when I went out for lunch with my colleagues and they always order on my behalf so I never felt the need of learning the Thai language as with them I talk in English nor there was any need of exploring Thai food or anything related to it, so it became my comfort zone and just wanted to be in my world.
Time was passing like that only, but whenever I think of going back to India, it makes me panic such as I might not lose all this fun and the way I am living in Bangkok. So, I always use to ignore whenever my boss asks me to visit India and reply to him that I will visit after a year.
Finally, Leaving India? OR Just for Travel? Actually, It was for Solo Trip.
Moving further ahead with my story, as I said in my previous chapter I had fixed my mind to go to Thailand only, and before the end of 2002 I finally started planning to go to Thailand. So the person whom I trust I started talking to them. There was an uncle of mine who was close to me and currently lives in Dehradun, he already had a trip to Thailand, so I went away to ask him about the atmosphere, work availability, etc., just to gain some confidence, as I was getting nervous to travel alone to Thailand.
At that time yahoo chatting was in trend, and use to have rooms, so until and unless the opponent doesn’t accept your request, one cannot do the chatting. I also started chatting in the Thailand room and at that time people use to be friendly and become genuine buddies with whom one can daily chat. Every day in the evening I use to go to the cafe to do chatting for a couple of hours in Dehradun.
My entrepreneurship journey started after a failure in 2001 from Dehradun. When the dot com burst and no jobs in the market.
During my job assignment in Kanpur. I visited my hometown in Dehradun. Then with my friend, we experienced a memorable motorbike trip from Dehradun to Chakrata Hill Station in 2000.
Chakrata is a cantonment town and also a sub-district/tehsil, in the Dehradun district in the state of Uttarakhand, India. It lies between the Tons and Yamuna rivers, at an elevation of 2118 m, 98 km from the state capital, Dehradun. Chakrata was originally a cantonment of the British Indian Army.
Now, I am moving ahead with my autobiography, as I previously said that in the year 2000, I don’t have a job and was looking for it. My struggling period was going on again, lots of stuff was happening in my life along with my studies. I have degrees but no job in my hands, during that phase of my life, a thought came into my mind that I should go out of India, I had this thought in my mind since I was pursuing a computer course.
I don’t have much confidence at that time and there was no passport, and my education was also not completed. I hold no certification, I was unable to speak English nor even hold any corporate base experience letter. So in short thinking about all this, I use to think that I won’t be able to go out of the country and the second thing was that from within I had a feeling that I don’t want to go out of India. Many people use to advise me that I should go to Delhi, Mumbai, etc. place to get a good job and there was nothing in Dehradun, as at that time I use to stay in Dehradun. I don’t know why I never get attracted to Delhi and Mumbai, all I use to think was I will stay at Dehradun or will go out of Dehradun but not Delhi/Mumbai.
This is all about the year 1999 when I was pursuing my MBA along with M.com. My MBA University was far away from the city around 5-6 kilometers distance. Now, it was getting tough and time-consuming to go on a bicycle, so I decided to buy a motorbike, during that time Hero Honda was more popular. I thought to buy the bike on loan for 2-3 years of loan time and I can arrange the EMI amount of 1000 INR easily. Actually, this was also my dream to buy a motorbike, my motorbike was black in color.
In 1996, at the beginning of New Year, life seems to be good and going smoothly, I was studying and working simultaneously. So, I talked to the Aptech computer center concern person that I was studying in the Saharanpur branch and now I want to give my second & third semesters from Dehradun, as I want to complete my 1.5 years of study, I want to get a Higher Diploma in System Management (HDISM) certificate course. They transfer my documents from Saharanpur to the Dehradun branch and I know that now I can arrange the amount of the fee, and pay for the second semester.
