On the third day of our South Korean journey in April 2024, we immersed ourselves in Seoul’s vibrant blend of tradition and modernity by exploring Bukchon Hanok Village, Yeouido Park, and the lively Hongdae area.

Morning: Bukchon Hanok Village
We began our day at Bukchon Hanok Village, a historic enclave nestled in the heart of Seoul. This area boasts over 900 traditional Korean houses, known as hanoks, dating back to the Joseon Dynasty. Wandering through its narrow alleys, we admired the beautifully preserved architecture that offers a serene contrast to the surrounding urban landscape. The village not only serves as a window into Korea’s past but also functions as a residential area, reminding visitors to respect the tranquility of its inhabitants.
Lunch Around Bukchon Hanok Village
Afternoon: Yeouido Park
In the afternoon, we visited Yeouido Park, a spacious green oasis situated on Yeouido Island along the Han River. The park is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike, offering various recreational activities. We rented bicycles and enjoyed a leisurely ride, soaking in the natural beauty and observing the harmonious coexistence of urban life and nature. The park’s well-maintained paths and scenic views provided a refreshing escape from the city’s hustle and bustle.
Evening: Hongdae
As evening approached, we ventured to Hongdae, renowned for its youthful ambiance, street performances, and vibrant nightlife. The area is a hub for creativity, with numerous art galleries, indie music venues, and unique cafes. We explored its bustling streets, indulged in local street food, and experienced the dynamic energy that makes Hongdae a must-visit destination for those seeking to experience Seoul’s contemporary culture.
